Ali Hashemian, Ph.D.
Ali Hashemian has been an active practitioner of qEEG brain map-driven brain stimulation and neuromodulation for 30 years. He is the co-founder and CEO of Brain Science International and serves as Center Director of Brain Wellness Centers (formerly the Attention and Achievement Center). Brain Science International has trained clinicians worldwide and continues to provide qEEG processing, interpretation, and treatment recommendations—including medication guidance.
He received his doctorate in clinical psychology from the Western Graduate School of Psychology and completed Harvard Medical School’s mini-fellowship in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) in 2003. He also completed the Professional Program in Neuropsychological Assessment at UC Berkeley and has accumulated hundreds of hours in continuing education on child and adolescent psychiatric disorders.
He is a Certified Berard Practitioner and a Certified Solisten (Tomatis) System provider, as well as an Associate of the International Association of Registered Certified Tomatis Consultants. Dr. Hashemian has served as a board member and President of the California Biofeedback Society and the ISNR Foundation, and as Chairman of SABA (Society for Advancement of Brain Analysis). He is an active Clinical TMS Society committee member.

Andrew Krompier, M.D.
[Verified by Psychology Today] Dr. Krompier is Board Certified in Psychiatry/Neurology. He completed his MD at Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY, in 1971, and trained in psychiatry at UCSF/Fresno Mental Health, finishing as chief resident in 1980.
He served as Chief of Psychiatry at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Livermore until 1984 and has maintained a private practice in San Ramon since then. With extensive medical/surgical training at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and experience as an emergency room physician, Dr. Krompier also completed psychoanalytic training at the San Francisco Psychoanalytic Institute.
He is an expert in psychopharmacology and remains passionate about offering patients the latest advances in psychiatric care—including TMS.

Research Scientist & Neurophysiologist
Vera Grin-Yatsenko, M.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Vera Grin-Yatsenko is a research scientist at the Institute of the Human Brain, Russian Academy of Sciences, with over 20 years of neurophysiology experience. She received her MD from St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical Academy and completed further specialization in functional diagnostics in neurology at multiple prestigious Russian institutions.
Her clinical and research work spans EEG, qEEG, event-related potentials (ERPs), and neurofeedback, particularly in ADHD, depression, PTSD, and autism spectrum disorders. She incorporated neurofeedback into her clinical practice in 1998 and earned her Ph.D. from the Kirov Military Medical Academy, focusing on ERP correlates in children with ADHD.
Dr. Grin-Yatsenko has published extensively in journals, books, and conferences.

Gregory Alter, Ph.D., ABPP, BCN, BCB (PSY7422)
Dr. Gregory Alter is a licensed psychologist and marriage and family therapist in California. He is board-certified in clinical health psychology, biofeedback, and neurofeedback. With more than 30 years of experience, he has helped clients enhance attention, learning, and overall well-being using integrative approaches that combine psychophysiology and psychology.
He provides educational assessments, therapy, and supervision. Dr. Alter is a member of the American Psychological Association, the National Register of Healthcare Providers in Psychology, and the American Board of Professional Psychology. He is also the Managing Director of NeuroAdvantage, LLC, specializing in neuromodulation. He has worked with the Brain Wellness Center (formerly Attention & Achievement Center) for over 10 years, offering clinical supervision and qEEG interpretation through BSI.

Jay Gunkelman, QEEGD
Jay Gunkelman is a world-renowned expert in EEG and QEEG, having processed over 500,000 EEGs since 1972. He served as President of the International Society for Neurofeedback and Research and held board roles with the Association for Applied Psychophysiology and Biofeedback and the Biofeedback Society of California.
Jay was the first EEG technologist to be certified in QEEG and earned Diplomate status in 2002. He has co-authored textbooks, including one on EEG artifacting, and published widely on EEG endophenotypes. He continues to lecture internationally and serves as Chief Science Officer of Brain Science International.

Rolf Palmer, M.D.
Dr. Rolf Palmer has over 40 years of experience in psychiatry and is known for his work in non-medication approaches to mental wellness. At Brain Wellness Center, he offers qP-TMS and personalized neurotherapy based on qEEG brain mapping.
He has served in private practice in Walnut Creek and Modesto, as Medical Director for Crossroads at Memorial Hospital, and for over 20 years with the California Department of Corrections.
